Gents -
This is a second call for recruits for Co. G, 1st Missouri Volunteer Militia. As you may know, the 1st MVM was part of the pro-Confederate force that occupied Camp Jackson and was then forced to undertake a humiliating march through the city that resulted in a riot. When all was said and done, several unarmed civilians were killed, and Missouri was plunged into it's own civil war in addition to the greater conflict of 1861-1865.
On April 29-May 1, 2011, Frank Aufmuth is putting together a great weekend at Jefferson Barracks (near St. Louis) to commemorate those events of May 1861, and he has asked us to portray Company G, 1st Missouri Volunteer Militia. This is the color company (these would be national colors, as both sides at the time were claiming to represent the true interests of the country). Michael Comer will be the battalion commander, and I will be the company commander, with John Wickett as my second-in-command. Guidelines quite easy and are very similar to an early war Federal appearance and can be found here:

There will be activities taking place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (please note: not everyone is required to attend on Friday, but there will be approximately 500 students touring the living history event that day) - the event webpage can be found here:
sites.google.com/site/campjacksonboy/campjacksonguidelines. I have also attached a tentative schedule for the event as well. Plan to drill, engage in routine military camp activities, and be entertained.
I should also note that this is NOT an "EBUFU" event. Demonstrations will be for the public, and there will be a mainstream element there as well. Additionally, there may be a small bounty for infantry as well.
We voted to make this an ONV event at the Fall meeting, so I'm hoping we can get a good turnout. Registration IS OPEN, but I would also like a rough estimate of those who think that they might be able to make this one. If you can, please email me at your convenience [ebfair71 at gmail dot com] and let me know if you intend on coming. This will be an excellent event, and a great opportunity to highlight the opening salvos of the messy war that took place west of the Mississippi.
Feel free to contact me with any questions.
Thanks, and again, I look forward to sharing a fire with you all soon.
Cheers,
Eric
