John,

I got it. I have taken a bit of a break from organizing and re-enacting in general. I just needed some time away. Just like Santa!

Look for a website to come out in the next week and some information.

We are four months away from Wilson's Creek and we are up to 21 registered. If you are going to attend and have not registered please do so soon.
NPS is going to provide rations and ammo so I would like to have a headcount.

See you soon!

A couple of things:
1. Below is the list of those that have not canceled out. If you are on this list and cannot attend please let me know ASAP! Or if you know of a pard that is coming and is not on the list let me know.

2. The names in bold are men who need to borrow a park musket. If your name is NOT on the list and you need a loaner let me know ASAP!
Make sure you bring what cartridge box and scabbard that you have even if they are not for a .69. Just in case the park does not have enough.

3. If you are a woman and registered as a man you may not attend. If you are a woman and show up we will ask you to leave or show the documentation that a woman was in Company F. Recently we had an issue with this and I do not want to repeat.

4. We will meet in the parking lot of the Visitor Center. As some of you know there is a pass gate to get into the battlefield. Right by the pass gate is a picnic area. You will find us sitting there or sleeping. DO NOT GO INTO THE PARK LOOKING FOR US!
It is very important the I have an idea of when you are arriving. This will help the scenario planned.

5. First Person: We will enforce first person during the weekend. Please leave any talk of WWII, baseball, other events at your car. We will not tolerate any deviation from this.

6. Guidelines: Please follow the guidelines provided for the event. We have the right to tell a person to remove non-authentic items. Only pipe tobacco, cigars and twist will be allowed. Remember no gum blankets or ground cloths!
Wilson’s Creek Living History
August 6-8, 2010
Company F of the Iowa First
Coat
1) citizens overshirt 2)1st Iowa overshirt 3)citizens frock 4)citizens sack 5) if you absolutely cannot manage any of the above options- citizens undershirt with no outer garment.
No Army Dress Coats or Fatigue Blouses.
At the time of the Battle of Wilson’s Creek they were wearing mainly rags. At the onset of their enlistments Company F along with some other companies were issued grey over-shirts. Many of these shirts had green or red trim. Because not a single one of these shirts survived the war let along the campaign we recreated these shirts based on accounts from the Mt.Pleasant Home Journal and Eugene Ware’s book “The Lyon Campaign.”
Trousers: The company was originally issued grey trousers. But once again by the time of the battle these trousers were nothing but rags. So, any citizen style trouser will work.
1. Citizen Trousers (all types)
2. Grey trousers
Under no circumstances will ANY sky blue or dark blue military trousers be acceptable.
Hat:
1. Citizen Hat (all styles)
2. Dress hats (Hardee Hat)
3. No Forage caps or Kepi’s.
Footwear:
1. Boots or brogans of correct period style.
Haversack:
1. White contract haversack
2. Citizen haversack
3. Federal Issue tarred haversack

Canteen:
1. Federal issue with grey or brown cover. Leather sling.
2. Citizen canteen
It will be very hot so we recommend you have a canteen.
No bullseyes, or sky blue/dark blue canteen covers.

Cartridge Box
1. .69 box of correct period construction. Must have sling.

Cap Pouch
Of correct period construction and style.
Scabbard: Scabbard may have either a sewn or two-rivet frog and must have a securely attached brass tip
Belt:
1. Leather Keeper with US Buckle.
Weapon:
1. 1816 or 1822 Conversion Musket
2. ‘42 Pattern smoothbore,
3. No flintlocks, two band muskets, Enfields, ’55 or ’61 Springfield.
4. Make sure the weapon is clean!
5. If you have a question about your weapon please contact me. headlog@gmail.com
Blanket:
1. Blue Wool Blanket
2. Citizen Blanket
3. No U.S. Brown blanket.
4. No gums, ponchos or ground cloths.
5. Make a bedroll. No knapsacks allowed

7. Food: As Wick wrote earlier food will be provided. But don’t expect a feast. You will get what the 1st had. Might be a good idea to bring a skillet of something to cook in. Please no canteen halves.

8. Marching: We will be marching over the battlefield. Unless we already talked we expect everyone to march in and out with us. At roughly 9:30 AM Sunday we will cut you loose to tour the site etc.

9. Water: We will have plenty of water. It will be hot so be prepared. We will not work you to death but this isn't going to be like sitting next to the pool.

As noted before we (Hairy Nation Boys) are leaving Iowa Thursday night. With the exception of going out for breakfast and maybe lunch we will be there all day.

See you soon,
Holler
