I have a private purchase sack and find it superior to the army issue. I assume many men felt the same and spent their money on something like Mark has shown us in the image. This might be an appropriate uniform purchase for some us so we can better represent the federal soldier. The haversack I'm going to leave alone simply because it makes me speechless.


Of course the first thing I noticed is the hair. We are way too well groomed and quafed at events. A old comrade Brian Egan used to put oil in his hair to recreate the look. Baby oil works but smells like a babies butt. Anyone up for oily head at Gelana?

I have to agree with Steve - hair oil is the bomb and would be a great period touch for the Park City Grays event guys. Perhaps Carter and Jasper could run a special for everyone.

I love the private purchase sack coat as well. If we ever do a furlough event, we need to get guys more gents wearing some. Steve would then be the fashion trend.

And to Andy, all the best on the no shower deal. I will keep that in mind for the Wilderness.

I have got some hair balm that really works well, and its in a wonderfully period container. I often try to get fellows to join me in a bit of the morning balm but seldom find any takers. Maybe that will change though.
