ONV members,

Our newest members of the Sally Port Mess are putting together a living history to be held at Ft.Wayne.

I am going for sure!

I wrote to Jeremy saying this needs to be brought up at the ONV meeting this December in Madison.

For those who have not been there, it is an excellent venue; great fort. I will want to make this one as well.

I tried to go to the Ft. Wayne event a few years ago but unfortunately it was cancelled. I'm not going to miss this one. It seems like a really cool idea and something that I haven't been able to do before. Count me in!

I did a garrison event there back during the Mudsill days. It is really a remarkable fort and well worth supporting this event.

Thanks for the plug Holler!

Thanks for the support so far. I plan on getting over to the ONV meeting in December to talk about it and answer any questions.

This is going to be a good one. It will be an opportunity we don;t get to often. Which is to live in an actual fort. This fort, I believe, has the only limestone barracks (1848) still standing within its complete star fort. I'll get some pics on the event site soon of the location.
But you can check out modern ones here: www.historicfortwaynecoalition.com/Gallery%20Pages/tour.html
Historical ones here: www.historicfortwaynecoalition.com/Galle...ages/historical.html

I'll will post updates here as well.

So what would happen if you get more than 30 participants? Is that a capped number or can you add to it?

Really looking forward to this!

Good question Holler! I was waiting for it!

I won't call it a cap since I won't turn anyone away after 30. I have said 30 because we have bunks for about that many. There is a chance we could have more bunks built and ready for use by then but that is a maybe.
Myself and Tom Steele are thinking about two options now if we need more room. Both are documented to being used at the fort during the war.
So, if you want to come, there will be room for you!

Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for the information on Fort Wayne for 2010 and I am planning to attend if all goes well. Look like a great event to start the summer with and how can you not like bunks. Brings back fond memories of Fort Snelling from a few years ago.
