Steve,
Kenosha is July 12-13.
Dan,
I don't mean to side track this thread, but the Pea Ridge event is Confederate impressions. While I will be 99% likely to be there myself, I think voting that as an ONV event will require a good deal of discussion as to what impressions the ONV is going to ask its members to have.

Post edited by: Andy_Ackeret, at: 2007/11/26 05:48

Or keep it on the list and let's see how may ONV guys are up for doing a confederate event. Let the vote say yes or no.
I have one more. The STonewall BRigade is hosting a picket post in central Pennsylvania in early October.
Keep em coming,

Steve & all,
I would love to support a more local event. Perhaps an event like Hold the rails event. Just a thought. Maybe the Old World event would suffice.

It would be good if we had a folder entitled
"ONV Sanctioned" and Mess Sanctioned.

Boonesfield Missouri, April 25-27. Militia mustering in event with a full blown functional AWESOME period town to play in.
As Holler said Marmadukes Raid. Which is a BGR style event.
Also talk of Into the Piney Woods March 10-14 and Bummers in 09 on November 13-15.
I am putting together a Battalion for Into the Piney Woods event. It will be even more fullfilling then BGR. If you missed that you will not want to miss this.
I am hoping the ONV will organize a company for that event.
Cheers

Dave Frohmader is the POC for Old World Wisconsin, and I know he discussed possible scenario's, but I am not sure if he intended to have this on the ONV agenda. Since it has not been mentioned, I will pass along OWW. If Dave has other thoughts on this for the agenda, his comments would supersede mine.
By the way, it looks like Labor Day weekend is August 30 and 31.

Rod,
Although we in the Hard Heads have decided not to offer the Fox Lake Preservation Weekend on May 3-4, 2008 up for ONV consideration with the vast amount of other quality events, this will be local and unique. Scott Frank and I will discuss this event for a secondary ONV listing of events at our meeting.
The only major drawbacks for the event is there will be modern intrusions in town we will be working around for the event and the crowd will be small as this is a small rural community. This event will be for your own gratification and preservation, not for a huge public following.
The good:
Recreation of the original formation of the Citizens Guard in the actual building it took place in 1860. Part of the proceeds from this event will help preserve this building.
Recreation of the By-Laws of the Citizens Guard as written on March 8th, 1860 in the same building. Riley is already warming up his hand and Lance Herdegen will be portraying the local newspaper correspondent Charles Stevens better known as Charlie of Nimrod.
Drill and demonstration near the original College Square. You can even wear your Park City Grays Militia dress coats for this or correct civilian attire.
Recreation of the Citizens Guard April 19th, 1861 resolutions and recruiting celebration.
A march 2 miles retracing the way the Citizens Guard left town on May 4th, 1861. We will be staying overnight near the original grounds of Fox Lake Junction.
Recreation of a Wide Awakes meeting Saturday Afternoon and torchlight procession Saturday Night that occurred in Fox Lake on October 15th, 1860.
Sunday Post Muster Out Impression of the Veterans of the Citizens Guard & comrades in 6th Wisconsin Vet. Vols. July 1865. A wonderful primer for the Antietam event.
So if early May is open, we ask that ONV members give our little event a look. We will also get a chance to view the Miner's Guard Flag at the WVM Saturday afternoon which will be our other preservation cause for the event. An event packet will be available to those interested by January.
Should be a great 2008 list of events.

Post edited by: Tom Klas, at: 2007/11/27 14:58
